Looking back: board game testing night March
- On 23 March 2016
On the first Friday of March we had another testing night. This time the turnup was smaller, having the advantage two games could be tested out by different groups of gamers. Once again the night was entertaining and useful, giving the game designers good feedback.
Gravity Push
Merel (and team) brought the game they designed in the latest Global Game Jam 2016. During a Game Jam the challenge is to make a new game as a team in only one weekend. In this space themed collection game each player is an alien who has to gather specific object. Each player has an unique set of powers and hindrances, that are distributed randomly. This makes the game a interactive puzzle with a lot of unique set ups and thus offers a lot of replay potential. Different board sizes were tested.
Dryads
Arjan tested his early prototype ‘Dryads’, in which players try to combine sets of cards. Each set (a flower) has to consist of each of the 4 colours of cards. These colours are linked to each of the seasons and also the backside of the cards shows that colour. Depending on the top card of the draw pile, some cards that are ‘in season’ are activated and offer more powerful actions or more ways to harass opponents. The card offer different ways to manipulate the sets of players and the draw pile itself.
It as another good testing testing night. On to the next one!
