- aquathon, floodcontrol, hack of a city, ijkdijk, let's gro, water safety
From Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May at Grote Markt 30 (Indietopia building/offices), Groningen dedicates its entire weekend to water safety. The Aquathon is the first hackathon on this theme to be held and will be the most technically challenging, exclusive and relevant hackathon in Groningen.
The Aquathon is an initiative of the FloodControl /IJkdijk foundation and organized by Rolf Fokkens (Target), Mendel Bouman (Hack of a City, Indietopia) and Peter Wind (Let’s Gro, Bries). During the event, innovative, creative and tech-oriented companies will have access to the large amount of information the foundation has collected over the past five years. They will be given 48 hour to use tech, IT or creative approaches to come up with innovative new solutions for 5 cases from the water world. The Aquathon will be the first to develop new innovations and applications based on this data.
In order to achieve its goals, The Aquathon is in need of YOU – programmers, techies, designers, creators, inventors, and influential and socially engaged people. They need people who want to help to invent new apps, gadgets and other innovations to keep the Netherlands dry. In order for your team to get the chance to participate, register at www.aquathon.nl. At registration, you need to provide your motivation as to why you should be part of The Aquathon. Only those candidates with the best motivation will be invited to take part in this fantastic hackathon. So don’t miss your chance!
Oh don’t think they are going to take advantage of your knowledge and hard work without any reward. The top three winning teams will be prized €2,500, €1,000, and €500 respectively to further develop their concepts and receive development support from Target. Also, participation is free and during the 3 day event, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks are provided to all participants.
So head over to www.aquathon.nl to check out the cases and find out more.
